I feel the same. I did grind it when I was young but then we moved and I got mid teacher, which slid me towards prioritizing the dumb adolescent distractions. 

I wish I had the consciousness then that I have now. I would have demanded a better teacher and practiced intently.

feels like an "i dont know what i dont know" situation tbh. i did a little bit of violin growing up but it always felt tedious and i never enjoyed it, in hindsight i wish i took it more seriously cuz it'd be cool to still know how to do it
