But I suspect you are right!

I am totally just making this up but:
Maybe concrete’s ability to crack would help in an earthquake. Similar to how car windshields are designed to crack in a controlled way to control the force?

And maybe mortar joints give it flexibility? Like how concrete slabs have joints around them to allow for movement and expansion.

So if I had to bet, i think I’d def bet on you being correct!

no idea. just saying that concrete seems an extremely sturdy option, over wood or other building materials
