Here's a question. If I'm generally fit enough to run a half marathon (around 2hrs), but I choose to briskly walk it instead, what's a ballpark expected pace? Anyone tried this before?

I don't think it's not going to be capped by your physical capacity, so much as how fast you feel like or are comfortable walking. My sense is that you can just identify that pace by walking for a km or 2.

Never tried walking a race, but hiking is typically 2-3mph. On flat ground you could probably maintain 3-4. By that math you're looking at like 3h15m - 4h20m or so. Just a guess, YMMV.

I have 0 background in this, so all I have is a hypothesis. But pro race walkers go incredibly fast (sub 1:20 / 20KM), so much like running I think you’d have to test your baseline. If you are not testing baseline before the race, perhaps you could use a metric like heart rate instead. Staying in a BPM range.
