Started a new newsletter on Substack. Seriously considering only using substack for distribution and linking to a site where I control publishing. I know @timdaub.eth does it like this. Trying to figure out the tradeoffs: I want to publish on my own site, but you'll also lose some distro benefits.

I would pay Substack for the ability to have custom domains / URLs I control if I ever wanted to leave the service.

You can do custom domains on Substack, but you still don't "own" what you publish. But, that's probably the best middle-ground. Stay on Substack as a platform with your own canonical URLs?
