I think in cases where someone clings to a fantasy without a promise or agreement

I think it’s that acceptance of who and where you are and who and where others are. People can only meet you at the level they are at. It’s hella practice though 😅

Depends on what you're expecting, they could equally be preconceived gratitude ... but often for me yes, expectations are a recipe for disappointment. I'm getting better though.
