Sooo many misconceptions about and aversions to therapy. How to improve this?

One of the first things I say when working with new clients is that it can take a while to find the right therapist and to keep an open mind about therapy in general. So many people have a bad experience with a therapist and can then generalize to the field

Itโ€™s also tricky because a โ€œbad experienceโ€ can of course be at the fault of a therapist but it can also be from a client not being ready to change/ do the work. The best work is actually when thereโ€™s a โ€œbad experienceโ€ and the client and therapist can work it out

Unsure how to fix this on a global scale but I feel like a move towards more accountability/ direct communication on a micro level can repair a lot of the ruptures that naturally happen in therapy

Also I feel an acknowledgement that we have nuances and what works beautifully for someone may not work for us and vice versa. Personally, I use an extensive blend of various therapies because bits of each feel good to me. And they all contribute to what I mean when I say therapy
