Also I feel a lot of people have never been thought to talk about, sit with or healthy move through things, so it’s extremely uncomfortable. This creates an aversion because people find comfort in avoidance/denial or busying themselves because that’s what’s familiar vs giving themselves space

reframing perhaps? Emotional Companionship. Sparring Partner in Adversity. IDK. Funny isn't it: some people are still averse even about coaching as it has a Fault-originated perception.

Improving this could be about continuing to shift the narrative around therapy, finding micro ways for people to participate in something that opens a door to more (retreats, personal development workshops rooted in healing/awareness, good books or blogs, talks etc)

One of the first things I say when working with new clients is that it can take a while to find the right therapist and to keep an open mind about therapy in general. So many people have a bad experience with a therapist and can then generalize to the field

My experience has been that people feel they need something very big or intense to happen in order to go. It’s shifting more, but there’s still a stigma (especially for men) where you must ‘need’ it vs realizing how it’s beneficial for everyone because it’s a tool
