what's your favorite gadget you own that many people probably don't?

Don't know if it qualifies as a "gadget", but can't live without my under-desk treadmill 🙂 Been walking while working since ~2016. Had my first treadmill die on me finally within the past several months, such a quality of life downgrade that I replaced it almost immediately!

Unfortunately, this is currently more complicated than it ought to be! Back in 2016, I bought a Lifespan TR1200-DT3 and was pretty happy with that over the years. However, when it finally bit the dust earlier this year, after a brief research stint, I gathered that Lifespan isn't quite what it used to be.

Something about it getting taken over by a private equity or management company iirc, and they let go the original team and started using lower-quality parts to juice profits (something like that). Long story short, I ended up ponying up and getting an Unsit this time around (via Fully, the desk/office company).

It's way pricier than my original Lifespan, but it seems pretty high-quality and I've been happy with it thus far! Seems like it'll last a long time. And, it's hard to put a price on health and feeling good 🙂 Unfortunately, in 2023, there's not a lot of great options (having spent time looking around recently).

There's a lot of options on the cheap, low-quality end, but they end up dying or otherwise having issues in relatively short order (and at this point in my life, I prioritize minimizing hassles!). On the other end of the spectrum, there's a few higher-quality options, but they're pricier. Very little in the middle!

TL;DR: based on my research, it seemed like the Unsit (at ~$2500 USD) is basically the "best" option circa 2023. I've logged probably 1-2 hours a day on average since February and it's been working great for me! Very little maintenance (e.g. lubrication), quiet, plenty of space to walk on, etc...
