I made it onto a block list on Bluesky. Worse still, I’m not even sure I should try to argue. I don’t really engage in shilling and definitely don’t harass artists but, I went through my posts and even there, I have, unsurprisingly, mentioned crypto and NFTs a fair bit.

Are you really surprised? We (crypto folk) are still in denial at how much 'normal' people despise us. They find us utterly repulsive, and for good reason.

Right. I’m not surprised. It’s just unfortunately because when you block with such a broad stroke, you end up missing out on people like me who don’t really fit the class “crypto bro” vibe. That’s fine if folks still wouldn’t like my content but I think there is a genuine appeal of what I do to pro-tech progressives, leftists etc. The person, creator of the new app Reelo for Bluesky, ended up unblocking me and even saying “I actually do think blockchain has potential good uses” so you can see how this kind if mass block approach can lead to regret.

Yeah I pointed out the thing about Jay working on Zcash. Bluesky doesn’t really use “blockchain” tech though. It uses decentralized web tech. The elements from IPFS it uses called pinning is a technique for tagging and later pulling content in a peer-to-peer system rather than from a central database, if I understand correctly. I definitely recommend people in web3 also check out what dWeb people are up to. It’s a super interesting community responsible for important technology like Internet Archive, who overlap a lot with blockchain enthusiasts.
