Chicago is literally the 'City in the Garden'. Excellent access to most parks. Every (nearly every) neighborhood has a large central park. Of course there's the lakefront park system as well. outside of that the Cook/Dupage county Forest preserve system is downright amazing! 

As for climate though ... ehhh
