Ok, let’s settle this: paperback or Kindle?

I use Kobo because I'm a hipster. Generally I prefer ebooks for the convenience, but I do enjoy paperbacks and actually holding the book, being able to flip around more easily, etc...

I've had both. I wanted something that wasn't Amazon. I also wanted something that natively supported EPUB. I'm not aware of vertical scrolling. I do prefer the paperwhite screen for best readability however. My kobo is more, I dunno, backlit (?) if that makes sense. Maybe they've updated the screens though

What do you like about Kobo in general or vs Kindle if you have tried both. Does Kobo have ability to vertically scroll instead of horizontally page flip?
