Do today's prediction markets suffer from a low status association with gambling and crypto? Should we seek to make prediction markets more "respectable?"

"applications" meaning "kind of events predicted" or "platform for predicting?" Politics seems like one of the most useful applications, but it's still low status to bet on elections.
