These people just got on the yacht and went straight to their cabins to sleep. I went to the captain, and he said we wouldn’t be stopping at Catalina Island because we were behind schedule. Instead, we’d just sail around it and head to some place I wasn’t familiar with—he mentioned the name, but it didn’t ring any bells.

We circled the island, which turned out to be pretty small, and then continued along the coast of Parque Nacional Cotubanamá. Our first stop was supposed to be the place where they filmed The Blue Lagoon (well, they didn’t actually film it there, but that’s what they told all the tourists, haha). We arrived there in about two hours. By that time, our tourists had suspiciously come back to life—they woke up, got all cheerful, and started drinking alcohol. 😄

I was even finally able to communicate with them and although they behaved rather rudely, in general they didn’t seem very problematic to me.

These people were slowly starting to pull themselves together. The sea air seemed to be doing them good… or so I thought. But I was so wrong! 😅 Turns out, they had been drinking and gambling at the casino all night, completely forgetting about the whole excursion. Everyone was horribly hungover, and our guide literally dragged them out of bed and sent them my way.

The stop at the "Blue Lagoon" wasn’t particularly interesting. Next, we were supposed to head to a private beach, but the yacht turned somewhere it absolutely shouldn’t have. We ended up in the strait between Saona Island and the main Hispaniola Island—an area that’s a protected reserve!

That’s where sea turtles lay their eggs, manatees come to mate, and some endangered coral species grow. On regular tours, they just show this strait from afar and stress that it’s strictly off-limits. But we were sailing right into it… 😬
