Trends Are Temporary. Conviction Wins. Web3 is obsessed with trends — from NFTs to new L2s to “the next big thing.” But trends fade. What survives? Focus & conviction. If you want to build lasting impact, stop chasing narratives. OWN one. 🧵 : Let’s break it down👇

Every cycle has its fads. 2017: ICO boom 2020: DeFi summer 2021: NFT mania 2022: GameFi / Axie clones 2023: RWAs, Solana revival 1000s of projects popped up. Most aren't relevant anymore. AND the ones that stayed focused are now category leaders.

Tribalism aside, building conviction-led moats is why @ethereum, @solana, @uniswap, @phantomwallet — and their likes — win. NOT trend-chasing. They didn't 'pivot' from one shiny object to another, just to grab 'mindshare' or whatever. And that's what you need to outlive hype.

The L2 wars prove this too. • @arbitrum – focus on ecosystem growth, not incentives • @optimism – bet on Superchains & built the OP Stack • @base – leveraged @coinbase's network, not airdrop hunters Meanwhile airdrop-farming L2s went from explosive growth to radio silence 💀

It's the same with memes, really. $DOGE, $SHIB, $PEPE, $BONK, etc. came before the 'Supercycle' & have been around ever since — thriving. Because they built vibrant cultures & communities that go beyond fleeting hype cycles. @murad spoke about this too: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6nqzwdGxTGc&t=1s

Positioning > Trends — that's how you win in web3. ✅ Pick a niche. Own it (not “the everything protocol”) ✅ Your project = the first thing people think of in your category ✅ Inspire, motivate people to evangelize your vision Shape the market. DON'T just react to it.
