The following year Apple was in the verge of bankruptcy. Microsoft bailed them out with $150 million and began developing software (Office?) for them. People forget how irrelevant Apple was in the mid/late 90s

I don't think we will see such a shift in consumer technology like we did in the late 90's/2000's. The shift from the PC to mobile/Internet was a once in a multi-generation thing, imo.
