1/ Hey farmers and space cadets, First and foremost, thank you for the incredible support you’ve shown us on the CropXYZ / @skyoneer journey. It’s saddening for me to say that @marissaposner and I made the tough decision to discontinue active development on the game and @goldchain .

2/ For transparency: just maintaining the chain and supporting infrastructure alone has cost over $150k annually (not including other operational expenses). We are a team of two and between a small venture round in late 2022 and the revenue from in-game sales earlier this year we have been pretty lean.

3/ As you know, crypto landscapes are constantly changing and while we loved building CropXYZ, we decided to focus on new ventures that we will hopefully share more about. We’re committed to keeping the game accessible so we’re working on open-sourcing the project (all ~70 smart contracts and the game UI).

4/ This way, you’ll be able to explore what we’ve built and keep playing by covering your own gas fees and hosting your own UI. Setting this up will take time but we’ll keep you updated. This project meant a lot to us and we’ve been really proud to push the boundaries of onchain gaming with you by our side.
