Can someone ELI5 EIP-4844? Should I expect mainnet ETH transactions to get cheaper?

If normal transactions are cars on a freeway, 4844 is a parallel cargo train track for special kinds of transactions used for L2's. Before, we'd transport them using normal trucks on the same highway as the cars, after we can put them on cargo trains. Choo choo.

I've been thinking about this lately, induced demand only really happens when there's lots (maybe unbounded?) different things to do along the lane. If the use case is too narrow, it doesn't happen (e.g. a road between two houses, no where else to go, more lanes won't help).

Which is to say: We want to build things that experience induced demand. That's a sign of diversity/variety of activity and use cases.
