Shielded vs unshielded is a half measure. Privacy coins could offer optionally disclosable elements for AML/OFAC considerations, but with no half measures.

Two reasons. 1. UX - It's still way too slow and clunky. 2. It doesn't have the attributes needed to create the human FOMO cycles. You can't flex if no one can see your bags. A free society needs Zcash (or something like it) to win online payments. But, it took a long time for HTTPS to replace HTTP, we'll get there.

Zcash, Monero (soon Aztec) are a red flag🚩🚩🚩for AML (because of the privacy) That's why Coinbase and other CEXs don't connect with them Tools like Chainalysys and TRMLabs will flag links to those every time
