We need a movement for offline spaces, just like walkable cities.

Faraday cage environments where phones and laptops simply don’t work. 

Libraries with pencil and paper and no distractions.

Laptops without WiFi chips, so you can type offline and then sync back manually via USB or Ethernet when you want.

Restaurants with phone lockers at the front, where everyone must check in devices beforehand.

I think you would see broader adoption of this at public places if it was something you could opt into with a setting or app on your phone. Something that turns off your radios when you enter a participating public zone. Otherwise I think this would remain a niche phenomenon relegated to elite, wealthy enclaves.

Union numbers are pretty small now and those stats account for 401ks, but I agree that a true correction in the market will be devastating to these groups. Especially people close to retirement. They are all in.

People 55 and older own 80 percent of the stock market. The top ten percent own 93 percent of the stock market. I think it's lost on the media and political class that the vast majority of the country just doesn't really care what's happening in the stock market.
