❓Cryptoart Question of the Week ❓ Finding a balance between passion and profit is a constant struggle in the arts. It’s easy to get lost in one and lose sight of the other. How can we balance passion and profit in the art world? Is it possible to do both well? Please tag your replies with #CAQOTW.

#CAQOTW I've found that profit as a motivator is what can really spur the deep dives and fanatical obsessive large-scale projects that just "for art's sake" can't. I would love to fixate and produce art that is just because I need to make it all the time, but beyond a certain threshold (if you have a family) it just becomes selfish indulgence.

You’ve touched on something I’ve considered but haven’t fully embraced—how the potential for profit can actually fuel creativity in ways I’ve been reluctant to acknowledge. It’s making me rethink things. #CAQOTW

Yeah? I think … idk I mean you can f course completely commit to something without money being involved at all (of course) and money is also obv kind of a corruptor of the purity of art. IDK - I think it’s easier to become completely absorbed when there’s potential that it’s constructive and you can keep in the back of your head that it may improve your material condition.

yeah that tension is something i've been thinking about in my own practice. when i first started this journey money was an afterthought with Second Realm. and i reaped some rewards despite that. but now i considering some more intentionality in my practice with a focus on craft and profit. and i haven't released anything in a while in preparation for that eventual direction in order to give space between Second Realm and what comes next. so part of me is working to become comfortable with that tension. hence this set of questions.
