Yes. There are over 10000 additives and chemicals allowed in US good currently. In other countries they have to test things before they're added to food. In the US the company that makes the products can do all the testing themselves and only have to do testing after it's been found to cause issues.

Even a lot of things that have been proven to cause problems, like artificial dyes, are still allowed

I visited mid west ish areas for the first time as an adult and oh boy, was it a STRUGGLE to find food I felt safe eating. I had to go to the most expensive restaurants and the cost was much higher for lower quality food than NYC 

I love New York City because you can find tons of amazing diverse high quality food options that aren’t even overpriced because of the high competition here

What a blessing it is to live somewhere all my favorite comfort foods are accessible ♥️
