The progression of permissions is: 1) Discord 2) DAOs 3) Doors 4) Drones That is: private keys start by controlling messaging, then money, then movement, and finally machines. Thanks to NFT locks we’re at phase 3. Will someone do an NFT drone to get us to phase 4? I can put up a bounty if this hasn’t been done.

Markets drive standards. Distribution drives markets. In crypto, very few teams have enough distribution to drive market-wide standards, so distribution from core devs can be an advantage in creating a schelling point for standardization. This plays to the advantage of core teams with less decentralization debt. Farcaster solves the fundamental problem with the Fediverse. It uses the blockchain for global, tamper-resistant state. That was the issue that bedeviled Mastodon.
