I do one parent one language with my son, but have been less strict with my younger daughter.

Today when I said we’re only going to be speaking English, she promptly declared she will ignore me.

In our context English is the minority language, so my wife and I agreed we’d do it this way.

Their exposure to English is basically me and Netflix, so I’m trying to help them reach fluency early so they can read on their own.

What prompted the one parent one language decision in the first place?

I speak to my 10 month old in Gujarati, English, and Spanish depending on the context and who is around
