Only keep files that spark joy! Jokes aside, I remember using Hazel for macOS years ago to clean out my download files based on rules. Once I started going through different work laptops and personal laptops at a faster pace I could manage, that went out the window and I just dump my download folder into my NAS which has several _unsorted (work laptop 2020) folders that are just collecting digital dust.

even marie kondo couldn't keep up with konmari in the end (๑>ᴗ<๑) it's gotten so bad for me that i've been having to use the color tags to tag final versions of things (⌒_⌒;) i don't know why i feel like i need to keep all previous versions but yeah, the dump to nas method is sort of what i've been doing too but lately, i've been generating/downloading so many files that are needed in the present that that doesn't really work
