if warpcast had “stories” like Instagram, would you be interested in seeing parts of my day (or other farcasters’ days) that don’t necessarily deserve to be on main feed?

i would use it almost daily and start allocating some of my instagram time here instead.

These kind of photos are rad and I’d want people to share them somehow but Stories feels like a conversational black hole with one to many participants.

It’s probably not the only reason but once it launched I feel like IG feed quality has completely sunk.

That’s a good point on ephemeral content. It took some pressure off posting very manicured photos since the stakes only got higher over time. Stories could be more raw and effortless, though even that can be an avenue for overproduction.

And fleets were so short lived I don’t even remember what they looked like.

I'd attribute that more to the post permeance 

Feed posts felt like they had such permeance that people stopped posting ephemeral content to their feed 

Everything chronological and ephemeral here so I don't feel like it would cause the same issue

That said fleets died fast so maybe there is something to that

+1, could be really cool. which channels do you think would this work best in or have the greatest adoption?

my guess would be every city channel and then more visual-oriented channels like design, fashion, farcastHER, fitness, etc.

It could be cool if a channel contained the story mechanism and followers of the channel could all post to the channels story whenever they wanted

hmmm i actually don't see it as post permeance at all. the fall of random content on main feed to me is bc:

1. rise of influencers w/ polished + curated content

2. launch of stories, so "unpolished" content went to stories

3. growth of user base = more competition = more visually appealing / engaging content on main

true re: IG feed quality i probably spend like 3:1 ratio on stories:feed nowadays, but i also find it more useful bc i can immediately get a sense of what people i care about are up to / if any serendipitous crossovers can occur
