This is the rub. Is there a more equitable way that accounts for the entire student and their culture, upbringing and privilege, while still being able to implement a structured system for assessing merit.

A standardized test that every person will get seems pretty good. The disparity is access to the tutoring and the underlying long term education. Getting rid of the standardized test doesn’t fix the underlying problem of bad k-12 education. Improving k-12 is what we need. Everything else is a distraction.
