there's this intentional community in oakland called radish it's actually a a 19-person multigenerational compound based on what they call the Obvious Truth: people are happiest and healthiest surrounded by people they love and admire fascinating IRL case study that makes me question the power of a network state

I live in a 13 bedroom community home that I cofounded 9 years ago (we currently include a Radish alum too… that crew is nearby and great). Our home is awesome, and also it won’t scale. Network states seem designed for scale, but shared ideals ≠ community. In my experience, if you want happy community vibes you need to be rooted with a close knit crew of absolutely no more than 20 people. Maybe you can have a bunch of small pods like that within a network state, but if there’s no small pod, there’s no vibes.
