my biggest concern with people in tech who spend all day shouting on the internet is that many of them spend very little time talking to the people actually critical to society:

doctors, firefighters, police officers, construction workers, mechanics, farmers, chefs, baristas, mailmen, janitors, retail workers, etc.

After spending a few years building software for construction teams I've come to really appreciate the trades and despise how we view that career path in the states.

We look down on vocation or trade schools in the US (and we don't have enough of them). Young people in the US are taught: go to 4-year degree or be a drop out and start a tech company. 

But it's also cool as fuck to go to a trade school, become a construction superintendent, and build the infrastructure backbone of the world.

And because this isn't a "sexy" career path we also have insane labor shortages in industries like construction. It's not completely skilless labor. 

Anyway that's my rant for now thanks for bringing this up!
