I may be the person who’s most excited for Channel Memberships Here’s why👇 I’ve long argued that the current iteration of channels feels more like topic tags than Communities. You choose a topic when casting and then your cast goes to people interested in that topic. Community is different. Community is a group of people organized around common goals. Layer on onchain and it’s: common goals + collective ownership! A big part of our vision is that every channel member is a member-owner with skin in the game. When you come to a channel community in a couple weeks you’ll be prompted to buy a membership via Fan Tokens — which gives you access to the channel, partial ownership of it, AND shared participation in all rewards earned by the channel. This is the way.

You’re reading this wrong. Anyone can build a token gating system for channels. We are building one with moxie. Others can freely do the same or different : better Build!

People are just confused because of the quick changes. Most people haven’t caught up on the news. They knew NotABot was going away and we should switch to Automod and now AutoMod is going away and NotABot is coming back. They just aren’t in the weeds as much to realize it’s all a coincidence. I’m lucky to know the whole back story and that things change here daily.

I wouldn’t say it’s a coincidence Facts are: 1. Channels will soon require membership 2. Automod is sunsetting 3. Anyone can offer products for token gated channel membership 4. Airstack is moving quickly to make sure fan tokens for membership is an option

Automod supports a ton of them. Many chains, etc-20, 1155, 721, etc.

the premise here is that automod is no longer necessary and there is a new built in mechanism and it is occuring to me now i dont understand even how this works in detail if we would like to build on it. so what are the details? is it onchain? etc etc

even token gating group chats i could under, you literally just have to pop in a nft contract address or just a link. i have no idea what i am looking at here. sorry im just an average person on the internet forgive me. so, anyway hopefully someone can help explain it to me idk 🤷‍♂️😭😭😭😭😭

Token gate chats are a really cool feature the Warpcast team built. That kinda of moderation doesn’t exist inside of Warpcast right now. We used automod to do it. Automod is so complex. I can’t explain it all here.

You aren’t. This stuff is really really confusing and not enough people are asking questions, reading the proposed changes, and speaking up. Channel changes are going to affect everyone. You are paying attention and won’t be caught off guard. Sadly Automod is just too complex to explain but here’s a screenshot of all the rules I can choose from! Sorry it’s tiny. i mean this makes sense. (and i have used automod some), but with that on the out will their be any user friendly tooling at all for the channel moderating new system (which is required in some form or another) for like just a normal person to use that’s not like an experienced programmer? Or r we just stuck with moxie basically as the only option for now, as seems to be the case ?
