Upcoming channel changes We're *previewing* some upcoming changes so people 1) can understand and 2) provide feedback. These changes are not launching yet. It will be a couple weeks. There will also be a bunch of communication to channel owners. After reading the entire doc, feel free to reply to with feedback or send me a DC. I've tried to answer a lot of common questions in the FAQ. https://warpcast.notion.site/Upcoming-channel-changes-1056a6c0c101800caee6ea8133f8f966

Why not just let the channel owner decide if they want to make it invite-only? What is the reasoning for making it default invite-only for everyone?

Channels aren't hashtags or topics. They are spaces that a specific individual gets to curate.

seems to me that if its about the channel owner having the power to curate how they want, toggling off โ€œinvite onlyโ€ ought to be a curatorial option. what am i missing? ๐Ÿคจ

Exactly. If someone creates a channel they should be able to decide how to curate it. Unilateral changes like this arenโ€™t good for existing channel owners.
