Give him or her a dummy to help balance the pressure in their ears during takeoff and landing.

Our son's first flight was at 18 months. We were prepared. While taxiing for take off, he fell asleep. Later did some fun activities. If possible, ensure you have a bitnof space. Then: know your child. What do they like, dislike. What keeps them calm. Do that and what feels good to you. That mostly works.

Try to book a flight that’s not too early or too late, and hopefully use some of the waiting time for activities. Then, milk and nap on the plane! 🤞

This age is actually quite easy—just feed the baby promptly, and they’ll usually be fine. Around two years old, though, kids get really mischievous, and it’s almost inevitable they’ll disturb others 🥹.
