Yeah, I don’t think much risk re: Farcaster (that’s the entire point of their existence), but if you build very Warpcast-specific features that may never make it to the protocol (DMs, channels, compose actions, etc). I was around building on that Twitter firehouse api in 2012-2015 era — talk about platform risk. The 2011-2013 era of Twitter products were epic.

The biggest risk is on features that are Warpcast centric (DC, Channels) Building heavily on them now seems super risky. The second risk is towards consumer features. Merkle already announced that they were looking at a freemium model for Warpcast. As this is already the main client, they have way more insight towards usage and hence have a massive competitive advantage.

curious ur thoughts do u think there is a better alternative option for onchain builders atm? do u think that platform risk on farcaster will increase or decrease with time?

Biggest platform risk rn imo is probably from depending on proprietary apis/indexes. Everything else is technically open, but if you need to get off them at some point, it might just be too much work to keep you nimble and in business.
