Moving from B2B SAAS to CPG made me appreciate all the other types of people who have switched careers - you basically start over with 0 knowledge and connections. Has anyone here changed careers/industries? And what has that been like for you?

Went from chemical engineer to tech entrepreneur. Found my calling so my energy 10x’d, but it was definitely an uphill climb in the early days. I’m willing to do it again if I find something that 10x’s my energy again though.

rugby > cognisci > tradfi > chnge mgmt > crypto infra rsrch > protocol strat and bd has definitely humbled me over the years. h/t @velvetmilkman has taught me what it takes to build your worth (aka "personal stock"), and it's been a driving force in honourably growing my network where I'm always showing up to learn

I went from selling contract food service management to SaaS. Sales is sales but the leap in my technical knowledge took time. 6 years later I feel much more confident in technical conversations

Worked as an environmental engineer for 6 years (studied chem eng) then left to a startup doing front end and am now at a vitamin manufacturer and might not be for much longer Personally it’s helped me see that the only things that truly matter are culture and effort

credit sales > debt restructuring > media/film >trad art + NFTs > creator economy (now my own saas platform) pivoting is definitely fun (& humbling)! downside is that people always assume im much lower level but also met such good people willing to take chances on me 🫶🏼

Programming & Web Development to Retail Management to Merchandising & Marketing to Data Analytics 😅 It’s scary and I felt like I was taking steps back in my career each time but I’ve been happier and learned so much. The best thing is using learnings from those past outside domains in creative ways now.

Started as an accountant. 1st hop: operations at big tech. 2nd hop: strategy at start up. 3rd hop: full time trading. A lot is only in your mind. It’s as hard or as easy as you believe. Yes it can get tough on some days (lack of technical expertise) but imo it’s the r/n that sells, not technical know-how.

Always taxes but went from employee to running my own practice was totally different. It all takes time. 18 - 24 months but also depends on sales cycle and such and you start to see traction and so on.

Multiple times - went from finance to live sports, then moved from Singapore to the US to basically start my career from scratch. Then went from women’s health to Web3. The imposter syndrome is constant but I always try to remind myself that all my skills are more transferable than I think.

One thing I’ve learned is to find the skills that are transferable. I went from working in film to working in tech. At first I beat myself up for wasting time, but I soon learned many of the hard and soft skills worked in either industry
