I wrote a 9-page guide on how to negotiate your salary: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1RkyqijoSb6ZKfhCeKkxnQMJ7XkXqY8k8kgw6tFNLKgg/edit For founders: I write about negotiating, which you can use for anything. For job seekers: I provide resources, links, and sentences you can use during salary negotiation.

Well, the quality of work scales with pay, so you get what you pay for. 1. Offer additional benefits like additional time off, remote work, maternity leave, healthcare. This all ends up being cheaper than paying a higher salary. -

2. You as a founder are responsible for convincing and inspiring folks to join even at low pay. That’s the whole point of a startup. 3. Explore alternative options like contractors if you can’t afford someone full time.
