it’s actually crazy how many people just seem to drift through life without paying much attention to their surrounding, operating purely on autopilot can’t work out if this a result of daily decision fatigue and if so, would ai solve this and allow people to be more present?

I have a mental model for this. People who live life passively rather than actively. But when I talk to people who live their life passively I recognize it may be out of fear!

when you say passively, do you mean like an observer of their own world? fear is good shout — something i hadn’t even considered but if i look back at my own life, i can see where fear stopped me living actively (inability to make a decision)

I describe it as “life happens to them”.

i take it ‘life happens to them’ is a negative? i tend to flip-flop between the idea of having agency of our lives and having very little agency (i.e it was written in the stars) so sometimes i feel like life does just happen to me — like playing an rpg and it doesn’t really matter too much which dialogue options you choose cos you end up with the same end result (it may just come at a different point in the storyline) 🥲
