In video calls, do you default to camera off or camera on? Why? Does it differ depending on who you’re meeting?

Meetings with more than two people all with camera off I have found super stilted and painful. Fine if it’s a very large group with a clear meeting leader, but general conversation / ideation needs faces to see who wants to talk, when they’ve finished etc. gd to turn off self view to prevent fatigue.
