my take - Channels don’t need MM/Warpcast to grow. The legos to drive 10x growth/engagement within a channel are already there: - signups are permissionless, invite flow is getting better - frames already allow you to build channel apps and experiences - many channel moderation tools are available - use things like @curabot to curate algo feeds, channel leaderboards, distribute rewards. You can use frames for creating better form factors for your community, don’t need to rely on Warpcast feed/algo. - launch tokens for channel members, reward fairly. The challenge for channels is not lack of tools or decentralized creation/ownership. A few motivated channel entrepreneurs will show how to drive growth in channels using frames, tokens, onchain transactions, curated feeds and bots. And then everyone will follow fast. agree with @dwr.eth on this “We need 100-1000x more posts in channels before you can consider channels to be something like reddit.”

Dexscreener's search is much better than others for sure. they know how to use existing social signals (mcap, liq, vol) better. but don't think the reason for that is similar to google's pagerank (which figured the social trust heuristic for webpages 'backlink').

openrank's been doing this on farcaster for a while. now each channel can get their own leaderboard, wallet and token https://warpcast.com/sahil/0x0975d6af

Last week I interviewed @sahil to find out what is @openrank and how it differentiates from other social algos built on Farcaster. First thing I learned was how much they care about Farcaster and its growing ecosystem. They are building intensively for channel entrepreneurs to succeed. Cura, which is built on top of OpenRank, creates reputation systems that allow for channel owners to easily surface valuable contributors and the content they create. And to reward them more effectively. Newsletter drops Monday with the full TLDR of our conversation, and the full episode drops later in the week. Stay tuned!

yes, we need more niche communities to flourish here. but i don't think it's on Warpcast/Merkle to drive this. i think channels are a great primitive. we have good enough critical mass of interest based communities here. we need to give them tools to flourish themselves. and we need community entrepreneurs, who really care about curating and building their community. no shortcuts. https://warpcast.com/sahil/0x02a1cf1d

another great example - activate your channel leaderboard and issue any token/rewards to top users. /football channel is going to automatically distribute $degen from channel wallet to top users in the channel. @jacek $degen can partner with channels/communities to reward most contributing users automatically.
