at the Tokyo National Museum and interesting how the entire history of Japan is : - the region coming into contact with another culture - adopting some facets of jt - followed by a period of distance either due to war or natural causes - Make the adopted facets Japanese and do it better than the og culture applies to Pottery(China), Buddhism(Korea), Cars (America)

In retrospect, decentralized social network has been terrible framing for Farcaster. Two recent frames that are better: 1. Farcaster is an economy — social network + crypto wallets, small but high GDP per capita, h/t @woj.eth @luc 2. Programmable social — X APIs are dead, Farcaster APIs are constantly getting better, h/t @six It's still (mostly) decentralized under the hood, but lean into the things that it's really good at relative to the competition.

I think Japan's problem is that it's hard to tell good protocols apart from Kafka protocols cause from the outside both seem to be working fine.

He's just an intellectually interesting guy although I don't subscribe to most of his ideas. He's also good at producing meme-able quotes like "AI is communist Crypto is libertarian". I used to be an unironic fan boy cause zero to one was such a big influence on me coming from a family and culture with less propensity for risk taking.But I think most intellectuals have a half life of 5-10 years and he really peaked around 2017-18, now he kind of sounds like an old crank

Lot of people talk about getting off their phone and moving to the mountains or something but Tokyo is the place to be if you want to be on your phone all the time You could walk while texting and 95% chance that you won't bump into someone cause they dillegwntly walk on the left
