It just feels ridiculous though Thrift stores aren’t cheap Charity shops aren’t charitable Etc Nothing is truthful, everything is the same, and bad

I totally agree that the AIDS thrift store to NIMBY funnel is egregious…. but I think it’s funny and appropriate that thrift store employees have learned to price things accurately. (otherwise the arbitrage is all going to thrift shop resellers anyways!)

I have a friend who goes to estate sales to buy dead people's clothes and then drives them down to SF to sell to these stores.
