99% of network visualizations are utterly useless. They create impressive-looking hairballs of relationships using algorithms that appear meaningful but aren't. Despite the visual appeal, they rarely help users complete tasks more efficiently than simple tables, cards, or profiles would. We keep making them because they look cool in demos, not because they solve real problems

Exceptions = network visualizations which unravel to answer specific user questions, i.e. "what are the subsidiaries of this company", "what relationships led to the entity receiving such and such score"
