The more crypto memes I see the less involved I want to be in crypto. I feel like it’s a huge distraction and leech off newcomers. I understand that they bring a lot of attention but I’m just having a hard time understanding its purpose. What’s your perspective?

It is fairly discouraging if it's the only thing that exists. Farcaster was a big pull back into cryptonative things because it has a better mix of novel uses of blockchain & memes. CT was mostly just memes & very terrible narratives. Memes are marketing only…but if they're the only thing…it sucks.

IMO this is a good thing. I think people have gotten the idea wrong in that we want to change the culture of crypto. Instead, why not harness motivations that aren't going to go away for the common good? Meeting people where they are and designing for win win solutions is imo very achievable.

I've heard some say in this space (including FC founders) that memes are a key political voice. Others say memes can form network states. I'm just the messenger. But it's very interesting, all these takes on memes.

I think people use memes as a form of self expression and a way to feel apart of something bigger. However, 100% in agreeance that a hyper focus on it attracts leeches that only bring down the legitimacy and development of our space.
