I grew up with several family members aggressively courted by Atlantic City to gamble. They thought the casinos were their friends since they’d send them free rooms, concert tickets, dinners. I love that we have permissionless systems that let us build whatever we want, but I don’t buy that memecoin trading is different than casinos.

These were older women so the social/community/adventure aspect was huge for them. But I’ll never get over a casino working so hard to part a Holocaust survivor with her money.

Agree - I think it's possible for their to be predatory applications of something (eg gambling, alcohol, pornography) without necessarily thinking that the thing is bad in itself, and should be distrusted in all cases. But I certainly don't think your position is irrational.

I agree! I just think it’s wrong to posit this as something new because it’s social when gambling has always been social.

We think about this a ton. The more we are attracting and creating "pure" gambling activity, the less fun people seem to be having, the less social, the less inclusive, and honestly the less fun we as a TEAM are having. We think about it a lot as we search for the right game design. In works!
