why have cast, reaction, and link volumes dropped significantly since the ath while farcaster DAUs remaining stable?

I think Ham also had a good bit to do with it. The season 1 claim was disappointing for many, and there has been a decent hiatus till season 2 so all the cannons and guns have stopped. 

But today is the first day of season 2 and I expect to see a ton of farming again.

Couldn't agree moar. Farmers are lil bit of losing interest due to red market and yes allowance change.  

Maybe WC is healing no??
