i've read the original foundation trilogy (brilliant!) and the sequels (great!). now deciding whether to read the foundation prequels or the robot/empire series first. don't spend a lot of time reading books atm, so I'm inclined to finish foundation series unless there's a compelling reason to read robot/empire first?

Actually doing the same reread right now There are two schools of thought: publication order & chronological I recommend staying with the Foundation prequels since it is fresh, then going back to Robot series & reading in publication order Really excited for you

I’d have a hard time stopping a series I already started Voting to continue then go back to the prequels

Reading order of Asimov's book will always leads to debate buh I think it's based on individual perception. If left to me, I will say you should just read them in order, since you plan to read them all and besides it's the best way. What do you think about my view?

My dad read them all. I haven’t started yet. It’s on my bucket list to read - or more likely listen to the audio books.

robots > empire > prequels prequels somewhat rely on an understanding of robots for plot points. if you do prequels > robots > empire you’ll be ending on a disappointment IMO. doing prequels > robots and skipping empire entirely is probably fine too.

The whole series is great on individual merits. I don’t see any reason to jump early.
