Add a bench mud room style at the front door entry.

Then use a half round table for keys, wallet, pocket stuff

Long rug for sound and esthetics.

Wallet art or paint an accent wall darker for contrast.

definitely do the og willy wonka thing where the hallway looks like it's shrinking until you get to the tiniest door

a really great 'hack' to make it seem less empty would be to paint it with a warm color - my sister's hallway also looks like this and she painted it a color similar to this:
