I seriously don't get why telegram is so common in crypto. August 20, 2024 - Putin and Telegram owner, Durov both in Baku - Telegram is blocked in Moscow for almost 3 hours August 24 - Durov arrested in France

Telegram isn’t a censorship-resistant platform (like Signal), it’s a weapon. Because tricking people into thinking they have privacy while you spy upon them is taking power over them. Power that nation states will then want.

It’s the worst like whatsapp. I don’t like how ubiquitous it is with service businesses

Yeah, although definitely not ideal I do think whatsapp is more trustworthy than telegram. At least for the messages. I think they do gather a lot of metadata. WhatsApp uses the Signal Protocol for encrypting messages. You have to trust - WhatsApp’s implementation of the Signal Protocol hasn’t been tampered with. - Meta does not introduce vulnerabilities or capture data outside the encrypted content (e.g., metadata like phone numbers, timestamps, or IP addresses). I think it has been audited as well.
