I'd flip the question around and ask if we want all of those people here. Half the comments to Jason's question read as insufferably entitled. It's going to be Reddit in 2010 (when Digg imploded) all over again.

well I read through almost all of it and I agree with most, sadly.

So why are you still here 😅 This is the wild west, the uncharted territories. It's not for everyone. Early adopters have different personalities and expectations. Norms are still being established.

I’m still here because I’ve invested a lot of time and effort into this community, and I still believe this could be much better. Therefore, I’d like to see most of those issues they talk about on the replies of that tweet. Of course, not the ones that talk about how difficult is it to build a following, no engagement, etc. I talk about the echo chamber, bots (why paywall if it’s not to fend off bots?), friction to get in (pay with fiat to get in? really?), still pay with fiat for being able to keep commenting and liking, and a few more.

1. Echo chamber: this can only be solved by people creating the culture they want to see; this is hard and most people aren't equipped to do it 2. Bots: this is a hard problem that gets harder every day with the growth of LLMs; TBH I don't understand bots upset people so much, it will be addressed in time, and most humans can spot a bot with no problem 3. Onboarding: definitely needs improvement; I think the app store policies make this more complex than it needs to be. 4. Storage: you can pay for storage with crypto, there's at least one service I've used

Thanks for answering. 1. Echo chamber: in my opinion springs from the nature of the tipping. I’d like to compare interactions before and after tipping got implemented in order to see if what I’m about to say is true: People will not voice their opinions or dare to discord or discuss because they prefer pandering to whatever the OP said and get the tip. I’ve seen in 7 years ago on Steemit and Hive, and I see it again here. 2. Bots: they are annoying, they don’t help anyone, they farm tips, they contribute to point 1. 3. Onboarding: agreed. However, it doesn’t seem to help for point 2. 4. Storage: in my experience you can pay with crypto if you have a coinbase wallet/account. Which I don’t. I might be wrong though.
