1. Agree it’s hard for new users! But it’s always been hard for new users. We’re going to be adding “onboard directly to a channel” when joining Farcaster as the next big project for channels. 2. Channels as hashtags / topics did not work. We iterated for a year trying to make it work. 3. So we’re trying a new direction that is more like public group chats with a feed UX. 4. A reminder that casting in your home feed like Twitter is available to everyone.

No denying it’s hard for new users, but what is the alternative? Let this place be raided by bots and spammers? I think it’s a bold and positive change and gonna get way better in time.

This is what people seem to be missing. If it's easy then it's worthless. On HackerNews you get downvoted into negative karma if you make low effort comments. That's what makes the culture there (mostly) high quality.

Totally agree, you also need to give something up in order to gain something valuable. Even when you don’t see the value right away. and Dan this is what I was talking about the other day! rjs replied to me here, but now will not get the notif that I responded to him, because he is not following me.
