I'm a bit slow with stuff like this... Does this mean we had a bunch of interesting content in June but not in September? What happened to the content producers? Did they leave? Why? And don't say not enough interesting content 😅 Did they go somewhere with more interesting content? Why did that place have more IC? Network effects? I feel like, as a model for network growth, "IC as an attractor" is too simple. Consider that 2 weeks ago BlueSky got 3m signups and grew 50%: does the IC as an attractor model explain this behaviour completely?

I heard blue sky onboarded Brazilians as they were banned from X. And prior to that someone shared that news that FC should try to take that approach as a way to onboard more persons. But I dont think the cast was paid any attention

Correct on both accounts. So the question becomes: why did the 3M go to BS instead of FC?

In my own opinion. Blue sky had more visuality than FC, must have been a much more open choice for the 3M new onboarded users. No 5$ fee for storage. Also I think the UI design is a bit more appealing than that of FC. I haven't used it in general as I just signed up now but the SPAM labelling on FC is much more aggressive here. Also the DAU here are not really enjoying their stay here as the new members onboarded are easily labelled as SPAM.

BS — free, barely any crypto "crap" (that's how many people view it) + mimesis — people leave for BS so i'll go there too. answering the question is kind of beside the point. it should never be "why did they go to XYZ instead", but "why should they come to FC". (plus i think tech is not there yet and merkle is playing it safe)

Android + Brazil, you can’t pay signup fees with CC. Also in some countries $5 feels way more than in others. The paywall is a problem as people are not used to it.
