as a former infra/ops/noc guy, i’m still very skeptical of AI being able to make building and running software systems trivial anytime soon i’m probably wrong in a way i don’t expect. AI-created and run software may be a completely different paradigm and set of abstractions

Same. Probably the 16 years in IT consulting for large corporates had made me too cynical, but I just don't see it being commoditized - it'll be a tool that will boost software engineering throughput significantly, but will never make it trivial

it's like money. give it to a highly capable person and they'll be uncomprehendably capable give it to a medium capable person and they'll be more capable give it to a incapable person and it's set to fail either way unless AI can go feed itself, run it all and test it all (it could with functional programming paradigms) we're good. and even then someone has to think product for these unless the AI also does that (though then the human being human comes back in. Emotions matter in this case, though we will have way more output)
